Junk food

Junk food

In today’s fast-moving world we have less and less time to spend on eating and preparing healthy food. That is probably why junk food has become so popular. Hamburgers, chips, hot dogs, chocolate bars and even pizzas with vegetable and cheese toppings contain a lot of fat and are high in calories. Young people who prefer eating them tend to become overweight as junk food is less satisfying and lower in vital nutrients than healthy food. If you want to be full you have to eat more of them, which may lead to gaining weight and having health problems.

Nowadays an average person does not spend too much time on exercising because life is much pressurised. Exercise plays an important part in keeping the body fit and healthy, it helps to control our weight it can decrease our chances of having heart attack and cancer. What is more, you don’t have to exercise much to gain visible benefits. Doctors say that twenty minutes’ exercise three times a week is all that is necessary. We also have to improve our eating habits and if we cannot live without our hamburgers, we should limit the amount of junk food we eat.

We should go on a healthy diet and eat a lot of fruit and vegetables as they contain a lot of nutrients. We should limit the amount of sweets if we want to lose weight. People who eat lots of sweets are also likely to have dental problems. Young people also consume a large amount of carbonated drinks with their meals so if they want to be healthy they should cut down on fizzy drinks.

There is another problem – the problem of dieting. Nearly everybody I know seems to be obsessed with their diet, partly because they are a bit overweight and partly because they think they are fat. There is a lot of pressure on young women to follow fashion and look like models. Nearly everybody has to be terribly thin and terribly fit, which may lead to eating disorders like bulimia and anorexia.

I have never been on a diet. If I am on a diet, I usually eat (…) and cut down on eating (…).
